Kara's happy place has long been the kitchen.
Maybe it provided mini escapes from the velocity of the corporate world she lived in. Maybe it was the structure of the recipes and the rhythm of the weighing, sifting, cracking, beating, whisking, greasing, icing and decorating that eased her sometimes freyed nerves. Maybe it was the sense of satisfaction she got from making 'something'. Something beautiful and useful and delicious. Something that brought a little bit of joy to other people.
For Kara, baking is part meditative, part creative outlet, part desire to be kind to others. For years she had been mastering the art of smooth buttercream, rich ganache, mouth watering cakes and stunning decorations. All whilst leading a team, facilitating workshops, managing suppliers, coaching leaders and developing business strategies.
However in 2018, Kara decided to 'jump ship'. Well, relocate really. She left the city of Melbourne and headed to Byron Bay. To slow down, to be close to the ocean and to regain a sense of community. Because life is short and there are cakes to bake!
